Petition to PAUSE any Decisions on Proposed Policy Revisions
We, the undersigned, urge the Douglas County School District to pause any current or upcoming votes on policies related to student safety, privacy, and/or discrimination. Recent court decisions against the Title IX actions taken by the Biden administration suggest that the rules governing these actions are likely to be revised or even revoked. This evolving situation necessitates a careful and thoughtful approach to implementing new policies.
In light of these developments, we believe it is crucial for the Douglas County School District Board of Education to delay any decisions until there is greater clarity on the federal guidelines and legal standards. Our primary goal is to protect the safety and well-being of all students.
We call on the Douglas County Board of Education Directors to:
1. Pause the Vote: Halt any votes on new policies related to student safety, privacy, and discrimination until the legal landscape is clearer.
2. Review and Revise: Conduct a thorough review of existing and proposed policies in light of recent court decisions.
3. Engage the Community: Involve parents, teachers, and community members in the discussion to ensure that any new policies reflect the best interests of our children.
4. Prioritize Safety and Privacy: Ensure that any policies implemented are designed to protect the safety and privacy of all students, maintaining a secure and respectful learning environment.
Let's stand united in advocating for our children's best interests. By taking a cautious and informed approach, we can develop policies that truly protect and support our students.
Please sign this petition to request the Douglas County School District Board of Education pause the vote on proposed policy revisions regarding student safety, privacy, and/or discrimination & carefully consider the implications of any new policies on our children's safety and privacy.
